Disney Cruise Line Just Quietly Ended One of Its Most Popular Booking Options—And You’ll Have to Plan Your Vacations Differently Now

As of January 2, 2026—just two days ago—Disney Cruise Line stopped letting guests bundle Walt Disney World resort stays and theme park tickets directly with their cruise reservations. The convenient “Land and Sea” packages that made it easy to book an entire Disney vacation in one transaction are now a thing of the past.

According to Chip and Company, Disney says the change will actually benefit guests by giving them “access to the most competitive packages and promotional pricing—deals that were previously inaccessible through the Disney Cruise Line booking system.”

What This Means for Your Next Disney Cruise Vacation

If you were planning to sail with Disney Cruise Line and extend your trip with a few days at Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, you cannot add those resort nights and park tickets as cruise add-ons anymore. You will need to book your Walt Disney World accommodations and tickets as completely separate reservations from your cruise.

The good news? You can still book ground transfers between your Walt Disney World resort and Port Canaveral as cruise add-ons. So at least you will not have to figure out transportation separately.

If You Already Booked a 2026 Land and Sea Package

Do not panic—your existing reservation is safe. If you already booked a 2026 cruise with Land and Sea add-ons, your itinerary stays intact and you are all set.

But here is the catch: if you need to make any changes—like switching hotels, upgrading your room category, or adjusting the length of your resort stay—you will have to cancel the entire add-on portion and rebook the Walt Disney World part separately. No more simple modifications through the cruise booking.

The Real Reason Behind the Change

Disney official explanation focuses on pricing flexibility. By separating cruise and resort bookings, guests can theoretically take advantage of seasonal promotions, resort discounts, and special offers that were not available when everything was bundled together through the cruise booking system.

For savvy planners who regularly hunt for deals, this could actually work out better. Disney World frequently runs promotions like free dining plans, discounted room rates, or ticket bundles that might save you more money than the convenience of a single booking.

But for families who valued the simplicity of booking everything at once—and not having to coordinate multiple reservations, confirmation numbers, and payment schedules—this is definitely a step backward.

What We Think

This is one of those changes where Disney is prioritizing pricing flexibility over booking convenience. If you are the type of traveler who enjoys researching deals and does not mind juggling multiple reservations, you might actually come out ahead financially.

But if you loved the ease of calling one number, making one booking, and having your entire vacation coordinated in a single reservation, you are going to miss the old system.

The bottom line: Land and Sea packages made Disney cruise vacations feel seamless. Now they are going to feel like two separate trips that happen to take place back-to-back—and that is going to require more planning effort on your part, even if it potentially saves you some money.

At least the ground transfers are still available. That is something.
