Disney Just Committed $5 Million to Rebuild This LA Park—And Imagineers Are Leading the Charge
Disney is putting its creative magic where it matters most. The company just announced a $5 million commitment to rebuild Altadena’s Charles White Park, which was completely destroyed by Southern California wildfires earlier this year. And they’re not just writing a check—Walt Disney Imagineers are volunteering their talents to design and oversee the entire reconstruction.
According to AllEars.Net, the five-acre park will get a complete reimagining with features that blend Disney creativity with community needs. The project is part of Disney’s larger $15 million commitment to help Los Angeles recover from the devastating wildfires.
What the New Park Will Include
This is not just a simple rebuild. Disney Imagineers are designing an enhanced community space that will feature:
- A brand new community center
- An upgraded playground with Disney-inspired elements
- Play areas inspired by Altadena’s iconic Deodar Cedar pinecones
- A splash pad for hot California days
- Bridges, boulders, slides, and swings designed for imaginative play
- A new amphitheater for community performances
- Preserved burnt areas to honor the fire’s history
The park is expected to reopen in 2026, giving the Altadena community a much-needed gathering space after the tragedy.
Why This Matters Beyond One Park
CEO Bob Iger explained the personal connection: “Los Angeles has been home to the Walt Disney Company since its founding more than a century ago, which is why we felt a special responsibility to help this community rebuild.” He added that he’s “incredibly proud of our Imagineers who are volunteering their time and talents to help reimagine cherished public spaces like Charles White Park.”
The commitment hits even closer to home—several Walt Disney Imagineers lost their own homes in the 2025 wildfires. Now they’re channeling that experience into rebuilding for others.
Disney Imagineers are also assisting with two additional severely damaged parks in Altadena, extending their impact across the community.
More Than Just Parks
Disney is supporting recovery efforts beyond park reconstruction. The company is providing “Disney Field Days”—immersive experiences with themed activities and character visits—to students in fire-affected areas. These events bring moments of joy to kids who’ve experienced unimaginable loss.
This is what corporate citizenship should look like. Disney has the resources and the creative talent to make a real difference, and they’re deploying both to help a community that’s been part of their story since day one.
We will be watching as this project unfolds. If Imagineers can create magic in theme parks around the world, imagine what they can do for a community that desperately needs it.
