If you’re planning a Disney World trip this summer, you’ll have twice the options for beating the Florida heat.
Disney just announced that both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will operate simultaneously from May 26 through September 8, 2026. This marks only the second time since 2019 that both water parks will be open at the same time.
Why This Matters
Disney typically rotates water park closures throughout the year for annual refurbishment, keeping just one park open at any given time. If you’ve ever been disappointed to find out your preferred water park was closed during your trip, you know the frustration.
This summer, that won’t be an issue.
Resort Guest Perk
For guests staying at Disney Resort hotels, this dual operation is particularly good news. The complimentary check-in day water park benefit means you’ll actually get to choose which park to visit—rather than being stuck with whichever one happens to be operating.
Want the tropical vibes of Typhoon Lagoon? Go for it. Prefer the ski-resort-in-summer absurdity of Blizzard Beach? That’s an option too.
Blizzard Beach Reopening
Blizzard Beach is currently closed for refurbishment but will reopen on February 15, 2026, giving it a few months of solo operation before Typhoon Lagoon joins in for summer.
What Happens After September?
Disney hasn’t announced what happens after September 8. Given their typical maintenance schedules, expect one park to close for its annual refurbishment once the summer crowds thin out.
For now, if you’re looking for the best water park flexibility at Disney World, summer 2026 is when you’ll get it.
