Disney Wish Returns to New York in 2027: This Week's Top Disney Parks and Cruise News

The biggest news of the past week came from the water, not the parks: Disney Cruise Line confirmed that the Disney Wish will sail from New York City in fall 2027, the line’s first Manhattan homeport season in years. Add a rare Main Street, U.S.A. honor for Bob Iger and a citywide celebration in Anaheim, and it was a busy stretch for Disney announcements between D23 and the fall season. Disney Cruise Line Is Bringing the Disney Wish Back to New York in Fall 2027

According to Disney’s official announcement on the Disney Parks Blog (August 25, 2026), the Disney Wish will arrive in New York in late September 2027 for seven special voyages ranging from four to seven nights. Five of those sailings head to Bermuda, and three of the five add an extra day in port to give families more time on the island’s pink-sand beaches. The itinerary set also includes sailings from New York to New England and Canada’s Atlantic coast — the first time Disney Cruise Line has offered that route in nearly four years.

The same release detailed a broad fall 2027 and spring 2028 deployment. In spring 2028, Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale will host multiple ships, with the Disney Dream, Fantasy, Treasure, and Wish running three- to seven-night Bahamas and Caribbean sailings, several featuring double stops at Disney Castaway Cay. The Disney Magic will operate two 14-night Panama Canal repositioning cruises with maiden calls in Fuerte Amador and Colon, while the Disney Adventure adds three- and four-night Southeast Asia sailings from September to December 2027. Separately, select Disney Adventure sailings from December 31, 2026 through May 2027 will add a new port of call at Langkawi, Malaysia.

Bob Iger Gets a Main Street, U.S.A. Window at Disneyland

Disney also confirmed one of its most prestigious internal honors this week: Bob Iger received a dedicated window on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Park, unveiled at an August 16, 2026 ceremony and covered on the Disney Parks Blog (August 21). The window sits above the entrance of the Emporium and carries the title “Chief Architect for New Century Builders,” along with the motto “Looking forward to your tomorrow!” and the descriptors courageous, confidence, excellence, innovation, curiosity, and optimism.

Per The Walt Disney Company, the dedication drew Iger, Josh D’Amaro, Mickey Mouse, and the Dapper Dans. Main Street windows are among Disneyland’s highest distinctions, a tradition dating to the park’s July 17, 1955 opening and reserved for people who profoundly shaped the company. “This is more than a dream come true,” Iger said. “It’s actually not even a dream come true, because I never could have dreamed this was possible.” D’Amaro added, “They greeted him like a rock star, and that doesn’t happen by accident. Disneyland Plans “The Happiest Day in Anaheim” for August 27

Rounding out the week, the Disney Parks Blog announced (August 24) that Disneyland Resort will stage “The Happiest Day in Anaheim” on August 27, 2026, a citywide celebration building on last year’s three-day “70 Happiest Hours in Anaheim,” which marked the resort’s 70th anniversary. Disneyland opened in 1955, so the park has now operated for more than 70 years.

According to Disney’s announcement, more than 2,000 Anaheim residents received surprise visits during the month leading up to the event, with stops at locations including the Oak Canyon Nature Center and a local YMCA Sports Complex, handing out bubble wands, Mickey Mouse plush toys, and Minnie Mouse ears. The August 27 celebration adds treat distributions, character appearances, and community surprises across the city. It’s a community-facing gesture rather than an in-park event, but it’s a useful reminder that the 70th-anniversary programming is still rolling through late summer.
