The Frightfully Fun Parade Is Gone. What Disneyland Is Doing Instead Is Way More Interesting.

If you’ve been waiting for Disneyland to reveal what Oogie Boogie Bash 2026 looks like, the wait is over — and there’s a big change you’ll want to know about before you buy tickets.

On June 2nd, Disney officially announced full details for this year’s event, including a brand-new entertainment offering that replaces one of the party’s most beloved traditions. The full announcement is up on the Disney Parks Blog.

Goodbye, Frightfully Fun Parade

For years, the Frightfully Fun Parade through Disney California Adventure has been a highlight of Oogie Boogie Bash — a classic Halloween procession featuring villains, rare characters, and the kind of floats that fans plan their entire evening around.

It’s not returning in 2026.

In its place, Disney is debuting Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake — A Haunted Mansion Street Party. According to the announcement, the experience puts Madame Leota at the center of the action as she hosts a spirited séance and swinging wake “filled with ghostly surprises, eerie entertainment, and appearances from the attraction’s famous happy haunts.” The street party will feature multiple show-stopping sequences throughout the evening, complete with dancing spirits, mischievous apparitions, and familiar Haunted Mansion-inspired sights and sounds brought to the streets of DCA.

The reason for the switch? Construction. Ongoing work on the upcoming Coco attraction at Disney California Adventure has created limitations along the parade route, making the traditional parade format unfeasible until at least 2028. Rather than quietly cut the entertainment or offer something lesser, Disney appears to have leaned into the constraint and designed something new around it.

What Else Is New

Beyond the new street party, the 2026 event adds a couple of notable touches:

  • The Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party returns with enhanced viewing of the Madame Leota street party and a new assortment of treats inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
  • Guests can expect appearances from “not-often-seen villains and Disney characters dressed up for Halloween” throughout the park.
  • The Headless Horseman rides again, appearing at select times in pursuit of Ichabod Crane.
  • Villains Grove, trick-or-treating along the treat trails, and the costume-friendly atmosphere all return as well.
  • A D23-exclusive night is set for September 27th with special ticketing for members.

Dates, Pricing, and How to Get Tickets

Oogie Boogie Bash 2026 runs for 33 select nights — a record, and two more than last year — from August 18 through October 31. The party runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., with early park access to California Adventure starting three hours before the event begins.

Ticket pricing holds steady compared to 2025:

  • August dates start at $139
  • September dates range from $139 to $169
  • October dates run $169 to $189, with Halloween night (October 31) topping out at $199

Tickets go on sale to the general public on June 18 at 9 a.m. PT via Disneyland.com. Magic Key holders get early access: Inspire Magic Key holders on June 16, all other Magic Key holders on June 17.

Our Take

Losing the Frightfully Fun Parade stings a little — it was genuinely one of the more charming pieces of the Oogie Boogie Bash experience, and a lot of guests built their evening around it. That said, the Madame Leota concept has real potential. A Haunted Mansion street party with a séance-meets-wake theme sounds like exactly the kind of theatrical, atmosphere-driven experience that Disney does well when it commits to it.

The bigger question is whether a street party format, without the structured procession of a parade, will feel as satisfying to guests who’ve come to expect a clear centerpiece to the evening. We’ll find out starting August 18.

If Oogie Boogie Bash is on your radar for fall, the general sale date of June 18 is one you’ll want on your calendar. Popular nights — especially October dates — tend to sell out quickly, and prices only go up as Halloween gets closer.
