Disney's Lakeshore Lodge Pool Reveal and This Week's Biggest Parks News
Disney unveiled The Wetlands pool complex at Lakeshore Lodge, Disneyland dropped its park-hopping restriction, Oogie Boogie Bash tickets went on sale, and more.
The week of June 11–18, 2026 delivered a flood of news for Disney and Universal fans alike — but the story that stopped us mid-scroll was Disney’s official reveal of the full pool and recreation complex at Lakeshore Lodge, the resort currently rising on the shore of Bay Lake at Walt Disney World. Add in Disneyland quietly killing a six-year-old park-hopping rule, Oogie Boogie Bash tickets going on sale today, a FIFA World Cup fan zone at Universal CityWalk, and stricter carry-on alcohol limits on Disney Cruise Line ships, and this was one of the busier weeks in recent memory across the parks landscape.
Disney Lakeshore Lodge Reveals “The Wetlands” — A Five-Zone Pool Complex Unlike Anything at Walt Disney World
The single biggest story of the week landed on June 17, 2026, when the Disney Parks Blog published a “Letters from Lakeshore” update written by Elyssa Esposito that gave the first detailed look at the resort’s outdoor recreation area, officially named The Wetlands.
Disney describes The Wetlands as five distinct zones arranged along the Bay Lake shoreline:
| Zone | Feature |
|---|---|
| Lakeside Lagoon | Zero-entry pool with spiral waterslide and beach-style entry |
| Daydream River | Lazy river — one of only a handful at Walt Disney World hotels |
| Heron Shores | Dry and wet climbing structures for imaginative play |
| Otter Springs | Dedicated splash zone with water features and slides for younger kids |
| Perspective Pond | Leisure pool and whirlpool spa with Bay Lake views toward Magic Kingdom fireworks |
The 967-room, 10-story resort is slated to open in summer 2027 on the former site of Disney’s River Country along Bay Lake. Disney describes the property as celebrating “Walt Disney’s lifelong admiration for the great outdoors,” with design storytelling drawn from Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear. Room categories will include studios, suites, and new one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses directly on the waterfront. Transportation to Magic Kingdom will be by boat.
We reviewed every Walt Disney World resort hotel that currently offers a lazy river — the list is short — and Daydream River would immediately make Lakeshore Lodge stand out among on-property options when it opens. At 967 rooms it will also be the largest new Disney World resort since Art of Animation opened in 2012. No DVC details were included in this week’s official post, though earlier state filings suggest a significant DVC component is planned.
Disneyland Quietly Killed Its Six-Year-Old Park-Hopping Rule — And It Already Took Effect
Starting June 9, 2026, Disneyland Resort guests with Park Hopper tickets or Magic Key passes can move between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park from the moment either park opens — no waiting until 11 a.m. as had been required since the resort’s post-closure reopening in 2021. Disneyland announced the change on May 19, 2026.
We walked the esplanade at Disneyland this past spring, and that 11 a.m. gate was a genuine friction point on busy mornings when rope-drop crowds in one park were already shoulder-to-shoulder while the other park sat comparatively quiet. The removal is a meaningful quality-of-life win.
A few details that still apply under the new policy, per Disneyland Resort’s official communications:
- Guests still need a park reservation for their first park
- A reservation for the second park is not required
- A 15-minute buffer between scanning into both parks remains in effect
- Park Hopper is a separate ticket add-on and is not included with base admission
Walt Disney World has maintained its own version of the 11 a.m. hop restriction, and as of this week that policy remains unchanged in Florida.
Oogie Boogie Bash 2026: Tickets Go on Sale Today — Here’s What You Need to Know
This is time-sensitive: as of this morning, June 18, 2026, general admission tickets for the 2026 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party are on sale to the public through the Disneyland Resort official ticketing page. The waiting room opened at approximately 8:45 a.m. Pacific Time.
Key numbers confirmed by Disneyland Resort:
- Starting ticket price: $139 per guest (ages 3+)
- Mid-season pricing: $189 per guest
- Halloween night (October 31): $199 per guest
- Event run: 33 nights, August 18 through October 31, 2026
- D23-exclusive night: September 27, 2026 (tickets went on sale June 16)
- Magic Key pre-sale: Inspire Key holders June 16; all other tiers June 17
One notable change this year: the Frightfully Fun Parade will not return due to construction limitations at Disney California Adventure. In its place, Disneyland Resort confirmed a new street party called “Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party.”
The 33-night run marks a record for the event. If previous years are any guide, the most popular October dates — especially weekends and the Halloween date — sell out within hours of general admission opening.
Universal CityWalk Launched a FIFA World Cup Fan Zone This Week
Universal Orlando Resort kicked off a summer-long FIFA World Cup 2026 fan experience at Universal CityWalk on June 11, running through July 19, 2026. According to Universal’s official press release on blog.discoveruniversal.com, the activation was created in partnership with Telemundo and is included with CityWalk admission — no separate ticket required.
What’s on offer during the 39-day event:
- Match broadcasts on exterior screens at NBC Sports Grill & Brew and the Universal Legacy Store, with every match available in Spanish through Telemundo and Peacock
- Visa Winner Tunnel, a walkthrough installation with FIFA World Cup visuals and photo opportunities
- Telemundo Fan Zone with photo ops, giveaways, and interactive entertainment
- Live entertainment on select match days: soccer freestyle performers, stilt walkers, and DJs
- Coca-Cola Beverage Truck with five exclusive World Cup-inspired flavors
- Doritos Loaded Pop-Up serving four specialty nacho creations
Limited-time food is also available across six CityWalk restaurants, from a Poutine Street Dog at Hot Dog Hall of Fame to the “GOOOAALLLL!” doughnut at Voodoo Doughnut. With group-stage and knockout-round matches still to come, the timing puts Universal CityWalk squarely in the conversation for where Orlando visitors will want to watch games through mid-July.
Disney Cruise Line Tightened Three Guest Policies Effective June 3
Disney Cruise Line updated its onboard policies effective June 3, 2026, rolling out stricter rules across three categories. The changes are confirmed on Disney Cruise Line’s official FAQ pages.
Carry-on alcohol: Guests may now bring one bottle of wine or champagne per person, or one 6-pack of beer per person, in carry-on bags at embarkation. A corkage fee of $20 applies if you bring wine into a restaurant (down from $29 previously, so that part is actually a savings).
Stateroom door decorations: Decorations must stay on the stateroom door only — no extending to corridor walls or ceilings. Over-the-door hanging organizers are prohibited. Fish Extenders are still permitted. Guests whose door decorations cause damage will be assessed a $100 fee per incident.
Photography equipment: Selfie sticks, tripods, and extending poles are not outright banned but must remain fully retracted and cannot exceed 18 inches in length while onboard.
For guests with longer voyages — 7-night or 14-night sailings — the one-bottle wine limit in particular represents a meaningful restriction compared to the previous policy, which allowed one bottle per person per night. Families and multi-cabin groups planning embarkation-day celebrations should factor this into their packing plans ahead of their sailing.
