Disney Just Named the Four Restaurants Coming to Its Lakeshore Lodge Resort
Disney reveals Lakeshore Lodge's four dining venues and lobby design, Disneyland's 70th ends August 9, and Disney reshuffles its $63B consumer products arm.
Disney’s biggest news this week isn’t a ride or a fireworks show - it’s a restaurant lineup. On August 4, the official Disney Parks Blog published the latest installment of its “Letters from Lakeshore” series and, for the first time, named the four dining venues and detailed the lobby design for Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, the 967-unit resort taking shape on the south shore of Bay Lake at Walt Disney World for a Summer 2027 opening. The series has been running since April 2026, but the food is the headline this time - and it landed the same week Disneyland closes the book on its 70th anniversary and Disney quietly reshuffled a $63 billion piece of its business. Here’s the digest for August 5, 2026.
Disney Names Lakeshore Lodge’s Four Restaurants - and Reveals the Lobby
The August 4 “Letters from Lakeshore” post is the newest entry in a series Disney kicked off back in April 2026, and its fresh news is the dining plan. According to Disney’s official announcement on the Disney Parks Blog, Lakeshore Lodge will open with four dining venues: the table-service Moonglade, quick-service Bay Lake Provisions, the poolside Paint Out Point Bar & Grill, and a two-story fireworks-viewing lounge called Dandelion Terrace. The same update pulled the wraps off the resort’s lobby design - the first look at how the interior will greet arriving guests.
For context, this is the third chapter of a rollout that began with an April 2026 resort overview and design-inspiration post and continued with a June 2026 entry that introduced “The Wetlands” pool complex. As previously announced, the resort brings 967 units to the south shore of Bay Lake - studios, suites, and one- and two-bedroom “Lake Houses” along the waterfront - themed around Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear to honor what the blog calls “Walt Disney’s lifelong admiration for the great outdoors,” with a Summer 2027 opening.
The dining reveal is the part we’ve been waiting on. On our summer visits to Magic Kingdom, we’ve long considered the quiet Bay Lake shoreline the resort area’s most underused real estate, so a purpose-built two-story fireworks lounge like Dandelion Terrace is exactly the kind of amenity that could reshape where guests choose to stay. Naming the restaurants and showing the lobby signals Disney is moving from the “big picture” phase of this project into the tangible, book-your-trip details. Source: Disney Parks Blog.
Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Ends August 9 - And a Fan-Favorite Show Returns the Next Day
Over on the West Coast, the clock is running out on a celebration more than a year in the making. Per Disneyland Resort’s official 70th anniversary page, the celebration that began May 16, 2025 runs through August 9, 2026 - and the changeover is immediate. World of Color Happiness, the 70th’s nighttime water show at Disney California Adventure, plays its final performance on August 9 and is replaced by the returning World of Color - ONE beginning August 10.
The daytime lineup shifts too. There will be no daytime parade or cavalcade at either park between August 9 and August 21, when Halloween Time programming and the Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade arrive. A few 70th touches linger past the official end date, including the Paint the Night parade through August 20.
| Ending with the 70th (Aug 9) | What replaces it |
|---|---|
| World of Color Happiness | World of Color - ONE (Aug 10) |
| Celebrate Happy daytime cavalcade | Halloween cavalcade (Aug 21) |
| Paint the Night (extended) | Runs through Aug 20 |
We’ve caught World of Color Happiness several times this year, and the swap back to ONE - originally built for Disney’s 100th anniversary in 2023 - is worth planning around if you’re visiting in the next two weeks. Source: Disneyland Resort.
Disney Is Moving Consumer Products Out of Its Parks Division
The third story is a boardroom move with theme-park ripples. Trade outlet License Global reported on August 4 that Disney is relocating the majority of its Disney Consumer Products operation out of Disney Experiences - the division that runs the parks and resorts - and into Disney Entertainment Studios, effective October 2026. The stated goal is tighter alignment between merchandise and the film and TV teams creating the stories those products are built on.
Why should a parks fan care? Consumer Products generated $63 billion in retail sales of licensed products in 2025, and much of what fills park merchandise shelves flows through it. No leadership changes were announced alongside the move. It’s an organizational shift more than a guest-facing one for now, but it changes who inside Disney owns the merchandise strategy that park guests interact with every day. Source: License Global.
