Disney Cruise Line pulled out all the stops Tuesday night for the official christening of the Disney Treasure on New York City’s Hudson River—and the spectacle was nothing short of magical. According to The Walt Disney Company, the celebration featured a jaw-dropping synchronized drone show with 1,000 drones lighting up the night sky above the ship.
The drones created larger-than-life displays depicting beloved Disney stories represented onboard, including Aladdin, Haunted Mansion, Moana, and Coco, all set to a medley of iconic Disney songs. The grand finale? The drones formed a massive 65-foot-tall champagne bottle that burst into pyrotechnics as cast members from across The Walt Disney Company—serving as the ship’s honorary godparents—recited the traditional blessing for safe travels.
Award-winning singer Jordin Sparks added star power to the evening with a live performance of “Live the Adventure,” the Disney Treasure’s official anthem. The ceremony marked a significant milestone for Disney’s expanding cruise fleet, with the Treasure joining sister ship Disney Wish (launched in 2022) and the upcoming Disney Destiny (set for November 2025).
What makes the Disney Treasure special? The ship brings together some of Disney’s most immersive experiences at sea, including a Broadway-style Moana production, Pixar’s Coco-inspired dining, Marvel Super Heroes dining experiences, a Mickey Mouse water attraction, signature fireworks at sea, and a Haunted Mansion-themed lounge for adults. The ship sets sail on its maiden voyage December 21 from Port Canaveral, Florida, offering seven-night Caribbean itineraries.
