Walt Disney Imagineering just filed a new permit for set installation work at The Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom, and it could signal major changes coming to the classic dark ride.
The Notice of Commencement, filed on December 26, 2025, contracts Mecca Productions to “install set elements” at the attraction. What makes this permit particularly noteworthy is that it was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering rather than Disney’s Facility Asset Management department, which typically handles routine maintenance work.
When Imagineering files a permit directly, it usually means there’s some sort of show-related change coming to an attraction or experience rather than standard upkeep.
Who Is Mecca Productions?
Mecca Productions describes itself as “the country’s leading Halloween fabricator,” known for creating award-winning projects and haunted houses. The Central Florida-based company is a full-service design, fabrication, and installation firm that frequently collaborates with Imagineering on themed entertainment projects.
Their involvement suggests Disney is bringing in specialists known for creating atmospheric, spooky environments rather than handling this work entirely in-house.
What Could Be Changing?
Disney hasn’t announced any specific refurbishment plans or project details. However, one possibility that fans are speculating about involves the Bride animatronic figure.
Earlier this year, Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion received an updated Bride Audio-Animatronic figure when it reopened from its Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. The new figure offers improved presentation that fits better within the attraction’s gothic atmosphere. If Disney follows the same playbook at Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom guests could see a similar upgrade.
The permit is valid for one year, expiring December 26, 2026, giving Disney plenty of time to complete whatever work they have planned.
No Closures on the Calendar
The Haunted Mansion remains open and operational with no scheduled closure currently listed. This suggests any work may happen gradually, during overnight hours, or in ways designed to minimize guest disruption.
It’s worth noting there’s also separate construction happening near The Haunted Mansion queue related to the park’s upcoming Cars-themed area. There’s a possibility that the attraction could require some exterior work in 2026 or 2027 to connect with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the new Piston Peak National Park land.
For now, Disney fans will be watching closely to see what materializes from this intriguing permit filing.
