Disney World Wants You to Show Up Late This Summer — And They're Paying You to Do It

Disney World is selling a new After 2 PM Ticket for summer 2026 that cuts up to $62 per day off regular admission — but the afternoon-only window comes with trade-offs worth knowing about.

Disney World Wants You to Show Up Late This Summer — And They're Paying You to Do It

Disney World just launched a ticket type that rewards guests for sleeping in.

Starting April 1, 2026, Disney began selling a new offering called the After 2 PM Ticket, which grants admission to any of the four major Walt Disney World theme parks — Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom — but only from 2 PM onward. The ticket comes in two flavors: a 2-day pass and a 3-day pass, and it’s available for select dates running May 26 through July 29, 2026. The full breakdown was first reported by Blake Taylor at MickeyVisit.

What It Costs — And What You Save

The pricing is genuinely notable. The 2-day After 2 PM Ticket starts at $117.50 per day ($234.99 total), rising to a peak of $156 per day on the highest-demand dates. The 3-day version starts at $116 per day ($348 total), peaking around $155 per day.

Compare that to regular full-day tickets for the same window — $157 to $179 per day for a 2-day ticket, and $155 to $175 per day for a 3-day — and you’re looking at savings of roughly $37 to $62 per day. For a family of four, that adds up fast. MickeyVisit estimates a family of four could save $316 on a 2-day trip by booking the least-expensive After 2 PM start date rather than a standard ticket.

There’s no park reservation required, which is a meaningful perk given how much friction the reservation system has historically added to trip planning.

The Real-World Trade-Offs

Before you book, it’s worth thinking through what “after 2 PM” actually means in practice — especially in the middle of a Florida summer.

The afternoon is when things get hard at Disney World. Afternoon thunderstorms are nearly guaranteed between roughly 3 and 6 PM during summer months, which can disrupt outdoor rides and shows for hours at a time. Crowds don’t thin out much until evening, and Lightning Lane purchases — which many families rely on to manage wait times — can erode the ticket savings quickly if you’re not careful.

Animal Kingdom is also a consideration. The park typically closes by 8 PM, meaning an After 2 PM visit gives you roughly six hours at most, with some of that likely interrupted by weather. That’s not a lot of runway for a park that still has a lot to offer, from Avatar Flight of Passage to the new Bluey-themed Australia area that’s currently under development.

For Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios, the calculus is better. Evening hours at those parks — particularly during extended summer hours — can actually be among the best times to visit. Temperatures drop, crowds shift to dinner breaks, and major attractions often have shorter wait times after 9 PM than they do mid-morning.

Who This Makes Sense For

This ticket type is designed for a specific kind of traveler: someone who isn’t trying to rope-drop every morning, doesn’t have a packed itinerary of character breakfasts, and is comfortable adapting to the afternoon weather patterns that define a summer trip in Orlando.

It’s a strong fit for guests who are already in the Disney area for multiple days — staying at a Disney resort, for example, or spending part of their trip at water parks or Disney Springs — and want to add park time without paying full price for days they’d only use partially anyway.

It’s a harder sell for first-timers who want to maximize every minute, or for families with young children on strict nap schedules who tend to hit a wall by mid-afternoon.

Our Take

This is a smart, if narrow, offering from Disney. It doesn’t upend how most families plan their trips, but it does open a door for guests who travel on tighter budgets or want more flexibility during a Disney-heavy summer vacation. The no-reservation-required element is a genuine quality-of-life improvement over standard tickets.

If you’re planning a summer trip and you know your family tends to take it easy in the mornings, the After 2 PM Ticket is worth a serious look. Just go in with realistic expectations about the weather — and maybe download a radar app before you head to the parks.
