Disneyland Is Ending Early Entry for Hotel Guests in 2026—Here’s What You’ll Get Instead

If you’re planning a Disneyland vacation in 2026, there’s a major change coming that could affect how you experience the parks. Starting January 5, 2026, Disneyland Resort is eliminating its popular 30-minute Early Entry perk for guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel, Pixar Place Hotel, and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. While this news might sound disappointing at first, there’s a new benefit replacing it that could actually save you more time in the parks.

Currently, hotel guests can enter one of Disneyland’s two theme parks 30 minutes before regular opening on select days—Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at Disneyland Park, and Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at Disney California Adventure. This early access has been a coveted perk that allowed families to hit popular attractions like Space Mountain or Radiator Springs Racers before the crowds arrived. But according to Disneyland officials, the program “was not widely used,” which prompted the change.

So what’s replacing Early Entry? Starting January 5, 2026, Disneyland Resort hotel guests will receive one complimentary Lightning Lane entry per person, per stay to a Lightning Lane Multi Pass attraction. This means if your family of four is staying for three nights, each person gets one Lightning Lane entry to use during your visit. The Lightning Lane system lets you skip the regular standby line at some of the park’s most popular attractions, which can save you 30 minutes to over an hour of wait time depending on crowd levels and the attraction you choose. For many guests, this could actually be more valuable than 30 minutes of early park access, especially during busy seasons when Lightning Lane return times typically fill up quickly.

There’s one additional change happening the same day: the special Pixar Place Hotel entrance into Disney California Adventure will no longer be available. Guests will need to use the main park entrance starting January 5, 2026.

For those wondering about Walt Disney World, the Florida resort is keeping its Early Entry benefit through at least 2026. Disney World hotel guests will continue to enjoy 30-minute early access to all four theme parks every day of their stay—a perk that remains extremely popular on the East Coast.

If you’re booking a Disneyland vacation for early 2026, keep this change in mind when planning your park strategy. While you’ll lose that early morning head start, the Lightning Lane benefit could help you skip the longest lines during your visit. Just make sure to use your Lightning Lane entry strategically on a high-demand attraction where wait times regularly exceed an hour, like Rise of the Resistance or Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout.
