EPCOT Just Ditched 3D Glasses on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (And Guests Are Loving It)

If you rode Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT this week, you might have noticed something missing: those clunky 3D glasses.

Disney just quietly reopened the popular trackless dark ride on November 14 after a four-day refurbishment that converted the entire attraction from 3D to 2D projection technology. According to Disney Tourist Blog, the change comes after months of testing and guest feedback showed that 2D visuals actually deliver a better experience than the original 3D format.

Why Disney Made the Switch

The shift to 2D might sound like a downgrade on paper, but Disney says the enhanced digital visuals and clearer imagery projected in 2D create better immersion. The attraction closed November 10-13 while crews installed state-of-the-art video projectors and enhanced projection media to replace the existing 3D equipment.

For guests, this means no more fumbling with 3D glasses, dealing with smudges or scratches, or worrying about whether your glasses are working properly. You just hop in your trackless vehicle and experience Remy’s world exactly as the ride designers intended—with crystal-clear visuals that don’t require any eyewear.

More Upgrades Coming

This four-day closure was just phase one. Disney announced that new props and lighting enhancements will be added to both the queue and the attraction itself over the coming months, creating an even more immersive environment as you shrink down to Remy’s size and scurry through Gusteau’s kitchen.

The France Pavilion attraction isn’t alone in getting this treatment. The identical ride at Disneyland Paris is undergoing a similar 2D conversion and enhancement, though that version will be closed much longer and won’t reopen until Spring 2026.

What This Means for Your Next Visit

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is back open now with the 2D upgrades already in place. If you skipped this attraction in the past because you’re not a fan of 3D rides or found the glasses uncomfortable, this is your chance to experience it fresh. The trackless dark ride technology combined with the larger-than-life props and scenic elements creates the sensation of being rat-sized without needing any special eyewear.

And if you loved the attraction before, the clearer visuals and enhanced projections should make your next ride even better than you remember.
