MSC Grandiosa Arrives at Port Canaveral—Here’s What the 181,000-Ton Ship Brings to Florida Cruisers

MSC Cruises just made a big move at Port Canaveral, and it’s good news for Florida cruise travelers. The MSC Grandiosa arrived at the Central Florida port on December 6, 2025, becoming the largest MSC ship to ever operate from Port Canaveral—and marking the first time the cruise line has deployed two ships simultaneously from the world’s busiest cruise port.

The 181,000-ton MSC Grandiosa is a massive upgrade for MSC’s Florida presence. With capacity for more than 6,300 passengers, the ship features 2,421 staterooms and suites served by over 1,700 crew members. Among its standout features: a sprawling water park, the exclusive MSC Yacht Club with private butler service, and a wide range of dining and entertainment options that rival any ship sailing from Florida.

This deployment represents a strategic shift for MSC at Port Canaveral. The Grandiosa will handle seven-day Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries, while the MSC Seashore shifts to shorter three- and four-day sailings. It’s the first time a Meraviglia-plus Class ship has come to the United States, giving American cruisers access to one of MSC’s most sophisticated vessels without flying to Europe or the Mediterranean.

MSC Grandiosa offers two distinct seven-day itineraries from Port Canaveral. The eastern Caribbean route visits Nassau, MSC’s Ocean Cay Marine Reserve, Puerto Plata, and San Juan. The western Caribbean option calls at Cozumel, Costa Maya, Grand Cayman, and Montego Bay or Falmouth, with a stop in Nassau. Travelers can even combine both itineraries for a 14-day sailing—perfect timing for anyone looking to maximize their winter escape.

The arrival is particularly significant given Port Canaveral’s recent achievement as the world’s busiest cruise port, with over 8.6 million passengers in fiscal year 2025. MSC’s expanded presence adds even more capacity and variety to an already robust lineup of ships homeporting at the Central Florida terminal.

For MSC, this deployment demonstrates growing confidence in the North American market. The Grandiosa joins an increasingly competitive field of mega-ships sailing from Florida, but MSC’s European-style cruising approach—think later dining times, international atmospheres, and Mediterranean-influenced cuisine—offers something distinctly different from the traditional American cruise experience.

The timing couldn’t be better for travelers planning winter Caribbean getaways. With two MSC ships now sailing from Port Canaveral, there are more options than ever for those seeking an alternative to the typical Florida cruise experience. The Grandiosa’s seven-day itineraries include some less-visited ports like Puerto Plata, while the private island experience at Ocean Cay gives MSC passengers their own exclusive beach day.

Whether you’re drawn to the ship’s impressive amenities or the chance to explore new Caribbean ports, the MSC Grandiosa’s arrival at Port Canaveral expands what’s possible for cruise travelers departing from Central Florida.
