The Muppets Coaster Finally Has an Opening Date — and the Track List Is Wild

Disney just revealed the May 26 opening date and full five-song set list for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets at Hollywood Studios.

The Muppets Coaster Finally Has an Opening Date — and the Track List Is Wild

After months of speculation, countdown teasers, and one-song-at-a-time reveals, Disney has finally dropped everything at once: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets opens May 26 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the full five-song set list is officially confirmed.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, the attraction opens as part of “Cool Kids’ Summer,” Disney World’s summer event season running through September 8. That positions the reimagined coaster as one of the anchor experiences of the season — and if the track list is any indication, Disney is swinging for the fences.

What the Ride Is Actually About

The original Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster sent guests on a high-speed limo ride across Hollywood to catch an Aerosmith concert. The new version keeps the same bones — same coaster, same launch, same inversions — but the story is entirely different.

Guests are now VIP attendees for The Electric Mayhem’s biggest headline show. The catch: the band has gone missing just before showtime. You’re boarding the L.I.M.O. (Lengthy Immediate Motion Object) to track them down and get them to the stage before the whole thing falls apart. The experience kicks off at G-Force Records, a fictional recording studio that has recently come under Muppet management, featuring an Audio-Animatronics figure of Scooter at the front desk.

It’s classic Muppet chaos, translated into a roller coaster premise that actually makes sense for the format. The blend of urgency and absurdity fits the Electric Mayhem perfectly.

The Set List Is a Legitimate Surprise

Disney revealed the tracks one at a time over several days, building anticipation heading into today’s official announcement. The full confirmed lineup:

  • “Song 2” by Blur — performed by The Electric Mayhem
  • “Born to Be Wild” — featuring Camilla the Chicken
  • “Love Rollercoaster” — featuring Jennifer Hudson and Questlove
  • “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” — featuring Def Leppard
  • “Walking on Sunshine” — featuring Kelly Clarkson

That is not what we expected. The combination of a 90s Britpop anthem, a classic road song performed by a chicken, and an actual Def Leppard collaboration is… genuinely interesting. Disney clearly didn’t just license five obvious rock standards and call it a day. The celebrity cameos throughout the attraction — which include “Weird Al” Yankovic, John Stamos, and Danny Trejo — suggest the same level of commitment to leaning into the bit.

What’s Changing Physically

Beyond the new story and soundtrack, Disney is updating the exterior and queue to match the new theming. The iconic guitar marquee outside the attraction is getting a psychedelic redesign inspired by the classic Muppet car paint style. The G-Force Records queue area will feature new concert posters and photo opportunities.

The coaster hardware itself is unchanged — this is still a linear induction launch coaster with three inversions in near-total darkness. If you or someone in your group found the original too intense, that assessment still applies.

What This Means for Your Summer Plans

May 26 is Memorial Day weekend. If you were already considering a Disney World visit around that time, the Muppets coaster will be ready for you — though expect heavy crowds for opening weekend. The smarter move is probably to wait until the first or second week of June, when the novelty lines start to settle and you can get a better read on wait times.

Lightning Lane availability for the new coaster will be something to watch closely. Popular new attractions tend to sell out early in the day, so if this is a priority for your trip, have a plan ready before you walk through the park gates.

The coaster is one of several new experiences opening as part of Hollywood Studios’ larger transformation this summer. The Walt Disney Studios land — a new themed area replacing Animation Courtyard — also opens May 26, so that date is shaping up to be a significant milestone for the park overall.
