Royal Caribbean Just Announced a MASSIVE Florida Expansion—Five Ships Will Sail Year-Round Starting in 2027
Royal Caribbean International just revealed its biggest Florida deployment yet—and if you’re a cruiser who loves sailing from the Sunshine State, this is huge news.
The cruise line announced today that it will operate five ships year-round from three Florida ports starting in the 2027-28 season, according to Cruise Industry News. We’re talking about a lineup that includes both mega-ships and newly refreshed vessels sailing everything from quick weekend getaways to week-long Caribbean adventures.
The Five-Ship Lineup
Here’s what Royal Caribbean is bringing to Florida:
Port Canaveral gets two powerhouses:
- Star of the Seas will offer seven-night Caribbean and Bahamas cruises
- Utopia of the Seas will run three- and four-night Bahamas getaways
Miami welcomes back a favorite:
- Wonder of the Seas will sail three- and four-night Bahamas cruises
Tampa gets a year-round resident:
- Radiance of the Seas will offer four- to eight-night Western Caribbean voyages
And there’s one more ship in the mix—Harmony of the Seas will sail week-long Caribbean itineraries from Central Florida after undergoing a Royal Amplified refit.
What’s New About These Cruises
Beyond the impressive ship count, Royal Caribbean is rolling out some exciting destination updates. Short cruises will continue visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay, the line’s private island in the Bahamas. But here’s what’s new: the cruise line is planning beach clubs in both Cozumel and Nassau, plus a brand-new private destination called Perfect Day Mexico in Costa Maya, set to debut in late 2027.
The longer Caribbean itineraries will visit popular ports including Jamaica, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and Samaná in the Dominican Republic.
When Can You Book?
Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members get early access starting November 5, with general bookings opening to the public shortly after.
Why This Matters
This announcement signals Royal Caribbean’s commitment to Florida as a cruise hub—and it gives travelers more options than ever to sail from their home state without flying to distant ports. Whether you want a quick three-night escape or a full week exploring the Caribbean, there’s going to be a ship and itinerary that fits your schedule.
The 2027-28 deployment is still more than two years away, but if you’re already planning future cruise vacations (or just dreaming about them), this gives you plenty of options to consider. And with five ships operating year-round schedules, you’ll have flexibility to cruise during both peak and off-peak seasons.
We’ll be watching for more details as Royal Caribbean releases specific itineraries and pricing for these sailings.
