New App: Wait Times by Magical Trip Guide

By July 22, 2020Tools

Both Disney and Universal have massively popular and feature-packed apps for their respective theme parks. While those apps are quite functional, over time they have become large and cumbersome, to the point where they really leave something to be desired.

One feature that we noticed could benefit from some improvement was ride wait times. So about a year ago, we set out to create an app that would be solely focussed on that need, incorporating a few key new features, while keeping things clean and minimalist. The fruit of that effort is a new app called Wait Times by Magical Trip Guide.

Here are some more details about the app:

Wait Times by MagicalTripGuide is your #1 theme park companion for up-to-the-minute ride wait times, alerts, and park hours for your favorite Disney and Universal destinations. An app designed for the in-park experience, just open it up, and it’ll automatically show you info for the park you’re currently visiting based on your geo-location. See the park hours for today and a list of “Ride Now” rides that have low wait times and are nearby.

The bread and butter of this app is ride wait times. Search rides by name or area, and see how far away from your current location each ride happens to be, or, view it on a map. Add any ride to your Favorites list so you can have quick access. Best of all, set up low wait time alerts that will automatically send you a notification if/when the wait time for a favorite ride dips below a threshold of your choosing.

Wait Times by MagicalTripGuide is also a great iOS citizen. It supports Siri Shortcuts, allowing you to ask Siri to “check ride wait times”, right on your iPhone or Apple Watch and to incorporate wait times into any routine within the Shortcuts app. With full support for both light and dark modes, the app looks beautiful under any configuration. And, for users of assistive tech, you’ll find it is fully optimized for accessibility features such as VoiceOver and Dynamic Type.

The app is available now for free on the iOS App Store. Check out our dedicated page for more info.
